I felt Unfortunate!

Exactly four years ago, on this date, I was walking to Awo Hall with tears streaming down my face and sweat fitting my body.

It was my birthday and my matriculation day.

But I was sad.

I was broke; unhappy; insecure and lonely. I remember that I had no good clothes to wear. I had less than two thousand naira. I was wondering about how the continuation of my university education would go if it started out this badly. I was hungry for hope. I was thirsty for love. I was broken down.

Yet I was a believer in Jesus.

You know Jesus never said life would be a walk in the park. His life here on earth, despite the fact that He was God-man, was one that was bittersweet. He was forsaken. He was wise. He was despised. He was popular. He was moneyless at some point. He fed thousands.

Four years down the line, I have come to the solid conclusion that what Jesus said is true:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”John 16:33 (New International Version)

Dear friend, following Jesus does not guarantee you a trouble-free life. You enjoy peace now and for eternity when you stick to Jesus.

Today, I am 21. The best birthday gift you can give me is your getting the license to attend the marriage supper of the Lamb, Jesus. I will be there and I want to give you a hug at this event…
