I feel like dancing right now. It’s another mind blowing episode on Sing Aloud. What am I even waiting for? Get me the drum and my dancing shoes, let’s roll. I’m excited. Yeah, on this episode, we have a multi-dimensional woman, a woman who is relevant in different spheres of life. Join me in this short but amazing interview with Olubusola Ajayi. If you missed the previous episode, you can catch up here. Let’s go:
TemidayoRiches: Thank you for accepting this interview, we are glad to have you on this episode. Can we meet you, ma?
Olubusola Ajayi
Olubusola Ajayi: I am Olubusola Seyi Ajayi. I am a gospel music minister, a drama minister, a writer and a producer (Mo-Mos Record)
TemidayoRiches: Wow. Great! You are indeed a multi-dimensional woman
As a woman of many sides, how have you been able to manage your profession, your role as a wife, and mother along with your ministry as a gospel artist?
Olubusola Ajayi: It’s all been by the grace of God. I am what I am by the Grace of God, it is not by strength being a wife, mother, drama and music minister, and working full time amongst other things but there is this grace that God releases in as much as He is the one that gave you the assignment.
Through His help, one is able to do it the way He wants and if you do something well, God increases your capacity. It’s not easy but the Grace is sufficient.
With my profession, ministry has not been easy but God’s grace has been sufficient. I remember at a particular time, God told me “you can’t do this ministry work with a full time job” so I went part time for some years and I could see tremendous growth in the ministry work at that time but at the time God wanted me to come back full time, I did and the grace has been sufficient.
TemidayoRiches: Wow! His Grace is sufficient and we must be able to yield to instructions per time.
I read some of your short stories and I love them. More inspirations, ma. I am aware that you have written some books too. How can we get them?
Olubusola Ajayi: My books are eBooks, they are available online. I will have them in print very soon. You can read up some of my short stories on my Facebook page @Olubusola Ajayi
TemidayoRiches: As a Gospel artist, what are those thing you think we should look out for when choosing a song to listen to?
Olubusola Ajayi: When choosing the songs you listen to, you should consider the consistency of the music minister. There are so many artists whose songs are filled with The Holy Spirit. Check out the records, the life of the music minister and the rhythm because there are so many infiltration these days. If it is from the throne of Grace, you will see.
There is a place of skills, yes, but if the song is from the place of prayer and worship, there would be a difference.
TemidayoRiches: That’s deep. Singing the Gospel goes beyond skills.
When did you start your music career?
Olubusola Ajayi: I actually started singing when I was young even through my university days, but I would say I started my music career professionally 5 years ago.
TemidayoRiches: Has there been challenges on your journey as a Gospel artist?
Olubusola Ajayi: Yes, there has been several challenges. Of course, the bible says that everything God gives to us is like a seed and we should not despise the days of little beginning. When you are just starting out, it requires a lot of work because it is at the foundation of everything so one needs to stay with God, stay focused and not be distracted.
You will meet people that are doing big things but just stay focused and know that it is you and God. God will be giving you instructions. Do the work with all your heart and follow God. There has been different challenges, financial, spiritual and even with the acceptance of the world but by the grace of God, God has been able to break those barriers. It’s a continuous process. When you complete a phase, there is another phase waiting for you and since the word of God says with God nothing shall be impossible. Keep trusting
TemidayoRiches: I must say I love the lyrics of your songs especially “take the glory, take the praise”, Can you tell us the experience that led to that song, ma?
Olubusola Ajayi: “Take the glory, take the praise. It belongs to you.”
I also love that song. It was a particular night, I was worshipping God, I was looking back at my life. I could remember that night vividly now. That night, I looked back and I was just thanking God for the journey so far and spontaneously, the song came. That’s the way God gives me songs .It was birthed from the place of worship.
TemidayoRiches: That’s interesting. No wonder all your songs are spirit-filled. How can we get your songs and when should we expect the release of your next Single, My Hiding Place?
Olubusola Ajayi: Thank you. God be praised. I use Youtube. All my songs are available on my Youtube Channel @Olubusola Ajayi. My Hiding Place will be released this month on my Youtube Channel. Anticipate!
Take the glory, take the praise
TemidayoRiches: We would be anticipating. More inspirations, ma.
Do you have any advice you’d like to give aspiring gospel artists?
Olubusola Ajayi: Yes. Focus on God. Don’t go about looking for open doors. Hold on to the God that called you. Stay in the secret place, be more consistent in prayer, bible study and worship in your closet. Remain in a close and consistent relationship with God. Don’t belittle any assignment God gives you, start there. It is the Lord that promotes and as time goes on, God will open more doors for you. Nobody becomes global in a day. Stay with God, He is the potter, you are the clay. Wait on Him patiently.
TemidayoRiches: That’s inestimable. Thanks so much for your time, ma
Olubusola Ajayi: The pleasure is mine.
